Veronica Beard - Resort 2018

There's this style called rich-girl hair and it is INYou could probably break off into a discussion about the privilege of wealthy women and healthy hair as a symbol of social power, but that's not what we're about here. It's just normal straight hair with a wavy bend in the middle. It's how I wear my hair, so I can say that all you need is a round brush, a dryer, and a reminder to not over do it with the shampoo.

Veronica Beard's theme this collection is apparently less resort and more "cool teen from Connecticut being featured in Teen Vogue because her mom is an editor at Architectural Digest and has major pull at Condé Nast". Which explains the hair, obviously. Sarcasm aside, it all looks fantastic. Though I may be biased because of the great hair and natural lighting.

I do especially like the dark olive military jacket, which forgoes all the usual feminine trims apart from all those wildflowers creeping past the epaulettes. The mini-skirt is a light touch, and again, very Teen Vogue.

Some artists say that only beauty will save the world and I tend to agree. But it must be beauty in every sense of the word. The beauty of humility, honour, truth, and for the purposes of this post, a bit of style for measure.

I love this collection. The team at Narciso Rodriguez have an amazing interpretation of femininity that I think the world needs to experience more of. More grace. More sparkle. More magic.

Lanvin - Spring 2017

This week belongs to Lanvin and Bouchra Jarrar. And Bouchra Jarrar gets it: there is no singular Lanvin woman, but women who buy Lanvin. She created a collection to inspire, to celebrate the very best of what life has to offer. This, no less, is the gilded mark of a high dressmaker.

As for the details, what I loved most was the use of a honey gold wide band mesh necklace as a bow and the fact that every woman's individuality and femininity was used to her fullest.

I always forget when resort collections make their debut, so I'm going to be doing a bit of catch-up here along with the current Spring 2017 calendar! Navy and gold make their case under the direction of Martin Grant, and, as always, it's a combination that will do any woman justice.

When Lanvin split with their chief designer Alber Elbaz, it was an industry breakup of monumental proportions. They had, after all, been together for 14 years and were synonymous with one another. From the outside, a breakup looked unexpected, a future apart, unimaginable. But, as the French are oft known to say, such is life.

So the show and business must go on, and Elbaz's successor, Bouchra Jarrar, was an undeniably satisfying and appropriate pick. Jarrar is one of those timeless women who is as wise as she is youthful, and that's the feeling she instills in her designs. Her confidence and precision is highlighted in the three basic dimensions of clothing: the fabric, the silhouette, and the palette. Her work, and this piece in particular, presents an ideal self, her ideal woman. More soft than sharp, more light than dark. She's accomplishing exactly what she desires with tremendous grace and goodwill. And that is a rare and beautiful sight.

Halston Heritage - Spring 2017

I was really looking forward to Halston Heritage's presentation and this season was especially gorgeous. You get a bit of the shine that accompanies all their pieces, but they went with a national ballet star off duty look that accomplishes the rare feat of feeling both sporty and luxurious.
